Dr Karina dingerkus

Ecologist

  • Karina worked as the principle ecologist for Norwich City Council for five years. She managed 290 ha of natural areas, including woodland, marsh and grassland. While there she was also wrote the City’s Biodiversity Action Plan and she sat on Norfolk’s Biodiversity Steering group. She was instrumental in setting up and advising numerous ‘Friends’ groups throughout the city.

  • Previously based at Lisburn Borough Council but employed by the Ulster Wildlife Trust she delivered community environmental education to schools and local groups within the Borough. During this time Karina put together the Wild about Waste environmental education schools pack with help from colleagues from the Ulster Wildlife Trust. She was also involved in environmental auditing.

  • Range of short term contracts conducting badger, vegetation and river surveys.

  • PhD from Queen’s University, Belfast, on the Ecology and Distribution of the Irish Hare.

  • BSc Degree from Aberdeen University.

  • Originally from County Mayo Karina is very familiar with western Ireland.

Dr Richard Stone

Ecologist

  • As an ecologist for the British Antarctic Survey, Richard worked in the Environmental Division. He was responsible for examining human impacts on penguin populations on South Georgia.

  • Previously based with ATEC Environmental Consultancy in Northern Ireland, Richard conducted a wide range of work including aquatic, both freshwater and marine, and land-based surveys.

  • Worked at various times for the Royal Society for Protection of Birds conducting Breeding Bird Surveys. Also completed bird and vegetation surveys while completing a set-aside project and regeneration schemes for areas used for open-cast mining. Has also conducted wildfowl counts and surveys.

  • PhD from Queen’s University, Belfast on The ecology and behaviour of waterbirds in relation to human activity.

  • BSc Degree from Aberdeen University.
